What is Pmegp subsidy ?

PMEGP stands for Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme and is a credit-linked subsidy programme implemented by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in India. The aim of the program is to generate employment opportunities through the establishment of micro-enterprises in both rural and urban areas.

What is Pmegp subsidy ?


The program offers loans to eligible beneficiaries for setting up micro-enterprises in the manufacturing and service sector. The loan amount varies from Rs. 10 Lakhs to Rs. 25 Lakhs and is available at subsidized interest rates. The government provides a 35% subsidy on the loan amount to the beneficiaries belonging to the economically weaker sections of society.

Eligibility criteria for PMEGP include Indian citizenship, age between 18 to 60 years, and a minimum educational qualification of VIIIth standard. The applicant should also not be availing any other loan or subsidy from any other government scheme.

PMEGP covers a wide range of activities including manufacturing, trading, and service sector enterprises. The enterprises can be set up in areas such as agro-based industries, handlooms, handicrafts, food processing, and repair and maintenance services, among others.

To apply for PMEGP, interested individuals can approach the nearest District Industries Centre (DIC) or Common Service Centre (CSC). The application process involves submission of required documents and project proposals, followed by loan sanction and disbursement.
